Civic orientation learning materials support instructors in their work

The multilingual civic orientation learning materials provide a foundation for high-quality, up-to-date civic orientation training. Their contents are based on the government decree on multilingual civic orientation, and their development has involved numerous authorities and experts from different fields.

The learning materials are primarily intended for civic orientation instructors. Instructors can use them as supporting and background resources when planning training. The materials offer ideas for structuring courses and for different ways of addressing topics, as well as factual information on various subjects. Based on the materials, instructors can design a programme that best suits their group, emphasising themes according to participants’ needs.

The learning materials are divided into ten sections, each examining Finnish society and life in Finland from different perspectives. They also include case examples, word explanations, discussion questions and exercises that instructors can use as tools in their teaching.

Thanks to the language versions, the texts can also be read by participants of the training as well as anyone interested in reliable information about Finnish society and how it functions.
